Amuse your senses and savour the magic in the ethnic precinct of Little India on this 2-hour walking tour. Begin at the Indian Heritage Centre, and let your expert local guide lead you into the narrow streets between pre-war conserved shophouses, and be dazzled by vendors hawking traditional wares like spices, gold, saris, and flower garlands.
Walk to the Little India Arcade, where the bazaars will make you feel like you’ve been transported to New Delhi. Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere while you browse silk saris, hand-made perfumes, and even try getting a henna tattoo from the locals!
Next, follow your guide into a local wet market, with rows upon rows of stalls selling fresh produce and spices. Navigate the market with its stalls of fruits and fresh meat while you absorb the sights and sounds in it. Learn about the various spices from your guide, and pleasure your taste buds by sampling a variety of local Indian pastries.
No tour to Little India is complete without a visit to the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore. Admire the temple’s regal gopuram, and offer a prayer if you’re so inclined to. Afterwards, bid your fellow walkers and your guide goodbye, and have a local lunch at one of the many eateries around if you’re hungry!
